Learning through play

A child’s early years are an important step towards positive education. We promote learning through play, making it both fun and stimulating.

Our activities are both indoors and out. We recognise the importance in exposing children to age-appropriate  challenges and experiences. Does your current Childcare in Ilkeston offer the same as us. Come and arrange a viewing.

We have guest experts visit to deliver language, science, music to children. In addition we arrange short distance trips within the community.

Children through play will start forming friendships quickly. We encourage them to play with both their close friendship group as well as other children.

As well as children making friends, it is great to see parents making new friends. We host a number of events throughout the year and really encourage parents to get involved in these.

Early Years Development

Staff track children’s progress against the EYFS and share observations in partnership with our parent app. This allows parents to share their observations from home as well as send messages to staff directly.

How are we rated?

We welcome feedback and strive to ensure children, parents and staff are happy. We see this as a partnership with all concerned. If you wish to leave feedback or get involved in our parent group, please send us a message or speak to a member of staff at your next visit.

Your Children

All our staff know about the importance of building strong attachments with children. They are trained to recognise the different stages of attachment and use this knowledge to support children and families settling in to the nursery. All Nurseries in Ilkeston are not the same. Finding childcare near you that is right for your child is important.

We provide a positive play environment for every child, so they may develop good social skills and an appreciation of all aspects of this country’s multi-cultural society. We plan learning experiences to ensure, as far as practical, there is equality of opportunity for all children and a celebration of diversity.

We recognise that children need regular access to outdoor play in order to keep fit and healthy, develop their large and fine motor skills, experience learning in a natural environment and access sunlight in order to absorb vitamin D more effectively

Health and Safety is a key priority for all members of staff. We promote this routinely to ensure children are in a safe and secure environment. Risk assessments are conducted. In addition we have a number of CCTV cameras on site to help ensure the safety of both children and staff.

One of our key objectives is to create a happy nursery. We welcome regular feedback from parents, staff and gauge happiness from the smiles on the children’s faces. We encourage parents to get involved in our parent groups to help promote a positive and happy nursery

Learning through fun and play is what we at Little Plums promote

Your child’s education and welfare are our main priorities
